For the Strawberry Pretzel Salad, I like to use sliced strawberries we picked in the summer and froze in syrup. Mix crust ingredients together and spread in a 9x13 baking dish. Bake in a 400 degree preheated oven for 6-8 minutes.

Last time I made this I had to cut mine into squares and place on a serving dish because the family had started taking bites from one end of the pan. They said they were “testing” it for me. Problem was I was taking it to a ladies’ luncheon. It would have been a bit tacky to take a “used” salad to a ladies’ luncheon! One thing for sure, it’s good.
I have a question about the term “cube of butter.” It was unfamiliar to me, so I’ve looked it up on several cooking sites, and there is a split decision on its meaning. About half the sites say a cube of butter is 1 oz, or 1/4 of a stick which is basically a cube. The other half say that cube is just another term for a stick of butter — or 4 oz. or 1/2 cup. In this recipe, I’m guessing that 1/2 cup would be the more likely amount, but I’m not sure. Any guidance? I’ve seen this term in other recipes on this site and wonder if there is consistency in its use. It could certainly make a difference in the outcome of a recipe!
We used to call this Mystery Salad – folks were supposed to guess what the crust was made of. None ever guessed it was pretzels! This recipe works very well with low sugar and low fat ingredients, except, of course, for the butter in the crust! I’ve often had to consider the needs of diabetic friends and family, so it is nice to know that is an option. Love this salad!
