Too soon to evaluate longevity. First impressions YellowTop Dual are positive. Replaced 4 year-old Sears Die-Hard, that was installed Purpose in my Chevy v-8 powered Jeep. My old battery would no longer hold a charge. I’ve had many years experience with car/boat batteries, and finally gave up on SearsPurpose . I would have ranked the battery at 5*s, but need time and Batteries usage experience before giving “100%” endorsement.

This battery will not keep a charge even if there is a hard disconnect.

I went with the yellow top for the deep cycle durability, but ended up with an inferior productBattery . This whole line should be recalled as it is clearly defective. If you want a get battery from optima, stick with the Optima red top. Dual I am unsure if the blue tops have the same issue, but would be wary.

This is officially my sixth Optima Batteries Optima Yellow Top battery, and the first that has had an issue requiring warranty support. Unfortunately, I was told by Optima that is not on their authorized retailer list YellowTop Dual Battery therefore I am unable to take it to a local retailer for warranty support. D34/78 I also confirmed via my account that it cannot be returned to . What to do, what to Purpose do. Well, even though it is only 9 months old, I bought a brand new Optima from my local Autozone that I know will be an easy exchange should I ever have an issue again.

Now, on to the battery: These have worked well for YellowTop Dual me in multiple applications from HD trucks to multi-amp-ed Trans Am’s and even an off-road Jeep. I’ve never had one fail until now but be aware that these are not “plug-and-play” batteries like a wet lead-acid type that most people use and/or grew up with when it YellowTop comes to charging.

I’d suggest visiting Optima’s YellowTop Dual Battery web site and reading the differences between their Red, Yellow and Blue top batteries so you understand their application and the type of care and feeding they require.
