Toshiba Launches IPedge Family of Pure IP Business Telephone Systems

America Information Systems, Inc. has introduced its new business telephone system, which is based on a pure IP format. This IP business telephone system, called Called IPedge, is not only affordable, it is also easy to administer, according to Toshiba. The company claimed that IPedge packs all the features, functionality, quality and reliability of a product which typically carry the Toshiba signature. The solution is currently available nationwide from Authorized Toshiba Dealers.

In a press release , Toshiba informed that IPedge has been developed as Linux-based single-server solution, so that users can easily program their telephone system to deliver many UC applications on a single server.

The UC applications may include call processing, voicemail and unified messaging, native SIP line and SIP trunk support, mobility, survivability, centralized administration of all sites, and feature-rich telephone endpoints. Plus, add-on applications such as meet-me conferencing with Web collaboration, uMobility Fixed Mobile (FMC) and Call Center solutions, are available with additional servers.

This feature undoubtedly will give Toshiba a competitive edge over the other companies currently offering IP solutions.

Thanks to its robust Linux-based OS, IPedge is easy to administer with a single IP address providing cost-effective deployment. The users will not require additional gateway equipment to enjoy SIP trunks capabilities, which work natively with the IPedge.

In addition, Toshiba ensures 100 percent networking compatibility with Toshiba Strata CIX. IPedge Net is 100 percent compatible with CIX Strata Net networking and provides a seamless migration path for currently deployed systems, the company explained.

In the press release, Toshiba said that it will continue to offer its Strata CIX converged IP system, which allows users to combine IP and/or digital endpoints on a single system. The users can either choose IPedge or Strata CIX systems--- they will get the best of both IP and converged telephony solutions.

Users can utilize IPedge Enterprise Manager and a Web browser to manage their own telephones, including programming buttons and personalizing telephone functions.
