Eight set to join Oiler Alumni Hall of Fame

Richard Eslinger (posthumously) (EA-WR class of 1946): Gen Eslinger had a distinguished career military, serving as both an enlisted man and as an officer in both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force. He served as a combat fighter pilot in the Korean War, flying F-86 Sabre (the first U.S. "swept wing" fighter) and the Lockheed Shooting Star (a "right wing" fighter jet).Eslinger spent a long and distinguished career of 40 years, pilot training and Air Force combat fighter squadron commander, 183rd Fighter Group in particular the tactics based on the base of the Air National Guard in Springfield. There continue to be the base commander at this base for years. Eslinger would reach the rank of brigadier general in 1984 and is one of the most decorated veterans of the EA-WR.

Paul Fritts (EA-WR class of 1955): Fritts is a respected consultant and national banking expert witness who has spent 34 years with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., Rose through the ranks from a bank examiner in 1959 to become CEO in 1991. Jack Helmkamp (EA-WR Class of 1965): Helmkamp is the retired president and CEO of the State Bank of Illinois in East Alton. During his professional career as a banker and continues to this day, Helmkamp distinguished himself by his active service with the partnership of United Way Foundation, the Lewis and Clark College Foundation, the Foundation of the Alton Memorial Hospital Board, and many other boards and charitable foundations.Through community leadership Helmkamp, ​​the new School of Nursing building is a reality LCCC prosperous.
