Wing Stop Employees Wrestle Shotgun From Robber
FAIRFIELD, Calif. - Fairfield police said Wing Stop employees obtained in a wrestling match with an armed man trying to rob the restaurant early Thursday. Police said extensive research was conducted in the region surrounding the 1600 block of Gateway Boulevard, but the attacker was not found. It was just after midnight when the man entered the business with a shotgun and pointed it at the employees, demanding cash. Police said employees were able to beat the gun away from the man removed his mask and force him to sit on a bench inside the restaurant.They let him go after the employees were concerned that it may have other weapons on him. Fairfield police said he was the last time to the south through the shopping complex. The man was described as black, 5 feet 9 inches, 150 pounds and 25 years, with short curly black hair. He was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt with hood, blue jeans and black gloves while wearing a backpack with red trim gray. "The Fairfield Police Department does not recommend dealing with armed suspects unless absolutely necessary to save your life or that of another person," the department said in a statement. "Being a good witness to the police highlighting the important details of the crime and the suspect are much more valuable than being the victim of a tragic shooting. " Police said the employees had the chance to Wing Stop that they were not injured, and thanked staff for providing an adequate description of the man.
