door on filtration housing - Aquascape's Pond and Water Garden ...

The door on my filtration housing broke at one of the pivot points; not a major deal but I am afraid the smaller koi will but pulled in by the 3000 GPM pump. I contacted an authorized dealer in my area, but was told the door could not be ordered seperatly form the entire housing. The door is approx. 5.5" wide with a white foam insert. Any ideas on where to purchase a replacement? Thanks, Kieran Kieran - I have not had any trouble with my wier breaking, but I have had various things get stuck in there. Tadpoles (once they got used to it, they stayed away), snails, frogs. It may be a bit stressful for the frogs and tadpoles, but if you have the basket, not much will get past it. I think it also help junk from possibly getting back out. Can you rig the door some how? Maybe use a piece of plastic "chicken wire" and attach it on the iside of the opening with some fish/food safe silicone for now??? As a side note, when ever TJB-INC does an installation with the Aquascape Classic Skimmer line, we do not install the weir at all. We have never had a problem with fish getting stuck in the skimmer for the lack of a weir. If you have a water level drop in your skimmer and a fish swims in, it will not be able to get out. So make sure your water level stays up and you will not have any problem. I hate the little flapper door on my skimmer. It has a area on it that is just recessed enough to grab the aluminium frame of the skimmer net as I lift it out. So everytime I try to lift out the net, I end up having to fight with it, as it gets caught on the skimmer door. So unless someone has a compelling reason why the flapper MUST remain, I may have to "accidently" break mine off...
